Day 5 -7 Alfriston
I woke up this morning feeling refreshed. Josh greeted me with a:
‘Good morning’, raised eyebrows and a smirky smile.
‘Did you have a good sleep?’ he asked, eyebrows still raised. ‘I did yes, and you?’ I answered, not understanding the joke. ‘Did you not notice anything?’ he asked.
‘What should I have noticed?’
‘I spent the night rebuilding the tent around you’
‘Ugh?’ ‘That makes no sense to me.’
Josh explained there was a huge storm:
‘The wind has been blowing our tent away for the whole night, I had to come out to re-pitch it every 30 minutes’ he said laughing.
I had no clue, I slept like a baby.

We leave the beach and cycle to another one of Josh’s friends. It is a bit intimidating for me to meet them for the first time and immediately crash at their place, but Aparna and AJ. are showing me so much kindness I soon feel comfy. Also, it feels absolutely lush to have a comfy bed and a warm shower.

It is a bit like staying at your Aunty and Uncle’s place that you didn’t see for a long time. We played the strangest game that consists of hitting a nut on a string and had a good laugh.

The next day, I was feeling a ot of discomfort from sitting on a saddle all day for a week ahem. Aparna and AJ invited us to stay for another night, which I was so thankful for as it gave my saddle a day of respite. We spent the day looking for blackberries and making a crumble, and the evening listening to french songs.
Thank you again Aparna and AJ!

We leaft feeling refreshed and followed the coastline through Brighton.
What a strange city. It feels stuck in time, or maybe partially stuck in time, with a few glitches to its code. A misplaced palace here, a carousel on the beach there.

We searched for a camping ground and got very lost trying to get to it.
